 This is my first vlog ever! I can't believe I'm posting this! It's short and sweet....I didn't really know what to say! Don't make fun, ha! : )

Memory Lane Friday: Link Up!

Who does not like looking at old pictures? I can sit in my room for hours going through and looking at pictures from the past. I've decided that every Friday I'm going to create a post titled "Memory Lane Friday". I'm going to post a picture from the past and write a little about it. I figured this might be a fun blog hop so I will create a MckLinky down at the bottom of this post. 

Do y'all remember Meredith's season of The Bachelorette several years ago? Well Laney (pictured below) was one of the last four guys left on her season. He was sent home after his hometown date though! This picture was taken at my cousin Cait's brother's graduation. Laney is from the same small East Texas town as my cousin and his brother was also graduating that same day! You know I was THRILLED to do death to get a picture with him! 

Don't we look SOOO young?!  I think I went to the tanning bed a little too much back then, ha!

An Old Friend, Accessories, and a Question for Teachers!

Today I went and had lunch with an old friend! Sharon went to the same school as me growing up and recently moved to Michigan. I haven't seen her in about in three years so it was good getting to catch up! We ended up going to Chuy's for Mexican food! Sharon said she needed her Tex-Mex fix!

I decided to crimp my hair today because I did not feel like blowing it dry/straightening it. What do ya think?

After lunch I ran by Sam Moon to buy some accessories!

I bought this cute flower headband and some Texas shaped earrings!

I'm now back in College Station. Next week I'm going to a substitute orientation for the district I will be student teaching in. Supposedly, I can sub up to four times for my mentor teacher and get paid! : ) 

Teacher Bloggers - what stores do you get most of your clothes for teaching? I'm in desperate need of some new clothes before I start student teaching. I'm thinking I'm going to hit up Ann Taylor Loft and New York and Company sometime next week!!! What other places should I go?

Weekend Fun!

Teacher Bloggers - Thank you SO much for all the encouraging words and tips on student teaching! : )

So what did y'all do this weekend? Friday night I went over to my cousin Cait's boyfriend's house for pizza and then we all went to Northgate to have some fun! 

Saturday Caitlin's mom came into town and took us to Ninfa's for lunch! Afterwards, we went to Target to look around. Caitlin had to buy a cardboard box to mail something in and the guy checking us out didn't realize that they sold boxes at Target. He put the box to the side and was like "do y'all just want this box"? I'm guessing he thought it was just one of the boxes the stock people had left behind. He wasn't even going to scan it....we thought he was hilarious! We had to explain to him that YES they do sell boxes at Target, ha! 

Anyways, as we were walking back to the car my aunt was saying how funny and cute she thought he was....so she went back in and gave him my number, ha! I will let you know if he calls! I'm sure I will not get a phone call since I hadn't showered, had a hole in the armpit of my shirt, and had no make-up on! : )

I bought these really cute Dr. Seuss bags at Target for when I start teaching! I figured the kids could use them to take books home in or I could use them to put Dr. Seuss books in. Aren't they cute?! They just cost a $1 each...I found them in the dollar spot! 

Yesterday afternoon we went swimming to cool off and last night I just chilled at home. I watched Lifetime movies and ordered Chili's To Go - I ♥ their chips and salsa! Do y'all watch Lifetime? I love all the suspenseful movies! : )

Excited about 1ST GRADE!

A month from today I start student teaching! I'm beyond exited to meet my new first graders! I will be in the same classroom and with the same mentor teacher from this past semester.  I am so lucky to have been put with my mentor. She has been teaching for a long time and is an awesome teacher. Last fall was probably one of the worst semesters I have ever had for a lot of reasons however, this past semester was so much better! I do not think it was by accident that I was placed in her classroom. I'm looking forward to another great semester and this time I will be in the classroom five days a week! The only thing I am worried about is getting up at 5:45 a.m. five days in a row! : ) Most student teachers come in during the spring but I'm looking forward doing mine during the fall. I think it will be interesting to see how the first week of school goes!

Any tips about the first day/week of school from any teacher bloggers out there? Or do you have any tips on student teaching in general?

Casino Trip Recap!!!!

If you have noticed that I have been MIA for the past few days it's because I have been in Lake Charles, Louisiana! We decided to take a trip to the L'Auberge du Lac Resort and Casino for my dad's birthday! We left this past Monday morning and came back today! Lake Charles is about three hours away from where we live so it wasn't too bad of a drive! I was happy that my friend Kristan was able to come with us too! 

The Sunday before we left we took my dad out to Outback for his birthday! He hates when the servers sing to him! : )

Have y'all ever heard of Cut N Shoot, TX? It's a small town that we have to drive through on our way to Louisiana. Don't ya love the name of it? The city of Cut N Shoot has it's own city hall, reception hall, and souvenir shop! I think I may want to have my wedding reception at the reception hall in Cut N Shoot! Ha, totally kidding!

When we got to Lake Charles we stopped and ate lunch at this place! They have the best seafood! I ordered fried crawfish tails!

We finally made it to the hotel Monday afternoon!

After we got checked in we headed down to the pool!

I love the pool area at L'Auberge! They have a swim up bar and a lazy river!

And...yes we had to watch The Bachelorette while getting ready Monday night, ha! We have no life! What did y'all think? I think Frank is a jerk and does not know what he wants! Hope she picks Chris!

I didn't take pictures of our second night at the casino - are you shocked? I had SO much fun even though I didn't win! Kristan's dad came last night to gamble with us for a bit.....he works close by to where we were staying! We had a blast on the craps table! It's so much fun when you are playing with people you know! 

I can't wait till we go back again! : ) I have to take my EC - 6th grade content exam tomorrow morning to become a certified teacher! Pray that I pass!

Dad's B-day, Frozen Drinks, and Pool Time!

 Today is my Dad's Birthday....I would like to wish him a Happy Birthday!

 Yesterday my friend Kailee came down to visit and to go to the pool with me! It was kind of a spur of the moment thing! Before heading out to the pool we went to the local Daiquiri Barn - it's a little drive thru barn that sells frozen drinks! The drinks are SO good!

It was so funny because when she was done with all of her popcorn she wanted mine! She kept nudging my hand till I gave her some! : )

The past few days I have been taking care of a family friend's dog. Sparkles is so sweet and has been really good. She LOVES to be petted and if your not petting her she will nudge your hand till you do! : )
