What's Been Going On...

This past Saturday, Kimberly and I were invited to our friend Rachel's wedding! We all three went to high school together....time sure does fly by! Congrats to Rachel and her husband!

Kimberly, The Bride, and Me

This week, I am busy packing up my apartment! I need to be all moved out by this weekend. My dad and Kyle helped me move some boxes/furniture into storage yesterday. I still have a lot more stuff to move though. It is pretty miserable moving in this Texas heat!

Last week, I met up with my first grade team for lunch...we had a fun time! I also filled out an application for an apartment that is only about five minutes away from where I will be teaching, however, I cannot move in till August. I am going to sign my official lease probably this weekend. I cannot wait to get all settled! Until then, I will be living with my parents! : ) Hope y'all are having a good week!

SO EXCITED!!! : )

Hope y'all had a great weekend! Friday evening, Kimberly and Caitlin came into College Station to visit! My cousin Caitlin got engaged last fall and is getting married next summer to her fiance, Matt! Before dinner on Friday, she asked me to be her Maid of Honor!!!! : ) Caitlin and I have been very close ever since we were little, even though we lived five hours apart. When we were kids, we always had a blast going over to each other's houses and going on family vacations together. We also graduated from Texas A&M together and lived in the same apartment complex during college. We had so much fun living so close to one another since we lived so far apart when we were little. I feel SOO honored that she asked me to be a part of her special day!  : ) I am beyond excited!!!!

I love how she asked me....she gave me a little bag with this note attached to it....I thought it was such a cute idea!

Thank you SO much Caitlin!!!

Louisiana, New Teacher Stuff, and Moving!

Hope y'all had a great weekend! Last week, we went to Louisiana for a couple of nights and stayed at the L'Auberge Casino and Resort. We didn't have too much luck at the casino but at least we had fun! On the day we left, I did pretty good on the craps table so I was happy about that! : )

Me and my Dad

Me and Kyle

I feel like these next couple of months are going to fly by! I have tons of teacher workshops to attend, a new hire meeting, new teacher academy, new teacher orientation, etc. I'm starting to get a little overwhelmed! I bought a planner the other day so I can stay organized! I am already going to three workshops this next week and I am meeting my first grade team for lunch on Thursday. I am really excited about that! I may also get a sneak peek of my classroom! : )

I also move out of my apartment in College Station in less than two weeks! I cannot believe that I have lived in College Station for almost four years now (not in the same apartment though). I moved here back in 2008 to attend college at Texas A&M University and then decided to stay after I graduated in December 2010. I'm kinda sad about moving away but College Station is only a little over an hour away from where I am moving to. I know I will definitely have to come back for some football games this coming fall. I'm excited about A&M joining the SEC!

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!!!!! :)

Show Us Your Life Home Tours - Kitchen Edition

Today, I am participating in Kelly's Show Us Your Life - Home Tours! This week is the kitchen edition. I absolutely love my kitchen in my apartment. It's probably my favorite room. These pictures are from when I first moved in....I have added a few things to the top cabinet shelves since then.

I LOVE all the counter space/bar area!

This is my little dining area. I bought this kitchen table at Hobby Lobby. I love the height of it!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

1st Grade Jungle and Lauren's Graduation Party!

Thank y'all so much for all the comments from yesterday's post. Yesterday, my friend Kristan and I went to the teacher supply store to look around...we had so much fun! It was kinda overwhelming though! I just wish I knew exactly what I needed to buy. I cannot start decorating my classroom until August 8th so I am going to have a lot of time to plan this summer and figure out what I really need.

I mentioned yesterday that I was thinking about doing a jungle/safari theme....here are some ideas...

Door/Bulletin Board Ideas:

"Chicka Chicka Boom Boom...Look Who Is In Our Room"

"Miss C's Class Is Wild About 1st Grade"

"Welcome to Miss C's 1st Grade Jungle"

Job/Helper Board Ideas:

"SPOTTED....Classroom Helpers"

"Hunting for Helpers"

Classroom Management Board Idea:

"Going Bananas Over Good Behavior" (I would create some type of board that had different levels of behavior for instance, great behavior, warning, consequence, etc. The children would each have a laminated banana with their name on it to move up and down the board)

Birthday Bulletin Board Idea:

"Born To Be Wild"

Good Work Board Ideas:

"No Lion...This is Great Work"

"Work to Roar About"

Student of the Week Board Ideas:

"Top Monkey"

"Top Banana"

What are your favorites??? Any other ideas?!?! I'm getting so excited...can't ya tell? Lol

Last Friday, I went to my cousin Lauren's high school graduation party! I cannot believe that she will be in college next year! Isn't her cake cute?! My aunt and cousin Caitlin made it for her!

Congrats Lauren! I am so proud of you!

First Official Day of Summer!

With last Friday being my last day of work, today I started my first official day of summer vacation. We didn't have kids all last week because Head Start's last day was the Friday before last. On that Friday, we had a little "Movin' On Up Celebration" for the children and their families. We served breakfast tacos for everyone in the cafeteria and then we went back to our room so the children could sing a few songs for their parents. They were so cute! We also played a slide show of the students throughout the year and gave them their certificates. I can't believe that they will all be in Kindergarten next year! I will miss them so much!

Last Wednesday, was my mom's school retirement party. She has been in education for over 30 years! When she first started her career in education, she started off as a high school marketing teacher, then became an elementary counselor, and retiring as a diagnostician. She is excited about retiring...she is looking forward the most to her morning and afternoon naps! : )
.
My mom and the two other ladies that are also retiring this year!

My mom and some of her friends from work!

I'm going into education and she is leaving!

Last weekend my dad saved a little baby deer from our neighbor's pond with his fishing net....he was so proud!

I have some exciting news that I will probably share next week! Soo...stay tuned!
