Memory Lane Friday: First Job

Welcome to...

The theme for this week is...

Your First Job

I know many of y'all probably do not have a picture of yourself working at your first job so just tell us about! If you do have a picture, post it and then write a little about your job! For instance, where did you work? How old were you when you started working there? How long did you work there? Anything funny happen to you at while you were working?

I got my first job back when I was seventeen. I was a senior in high school and I had to get this job because I was taking a co-op class. I went to school half of the day (in the morning) and then in the afternoon I went to work. I loved it! : )

I worked for this little Italian restaurant called the Original Pasta Co. I started off as a hostess and then moved up to be a server. On the first day of being a hostess my manager had me go around and light all the candles on each table with a lighter. Well...I'm not that good with using lighters so I came home with huge blisters on my thumbs! I remember my dad ordering chicken wings that night and I had to eat them with plastic bags over my hands! : ) That would only happen to me, ha!

Leaving for my first day of work!

I do have one funny experience that happened to me working at the Pasta Co. that I will never forget! I was waiting on this huge party (who were called the dog walkers of The Woodlands) out on the patio one night. These people wanted to bring their dogs with them to dinner and the crazy owner of the Pasta Co. let them! I thought it was ridiculous! I'm not too much of a dog lover but I thought if wanted to get a good tip from these people I better just act like it. After I served the guests their entrees the owner told me to run to CVS and  buy some dog treats to give to the dogs. By this point I was disgusted, ha! So as I served the people their Tiramisu I had to bend down and give their damn dog a treat too! : ) I guess it wasn't too bad....at least I got a good tip out of it! Ha!

I only worked at the Pasta Co. for a year and quit when I left for college. Eventually, it closed down. I'm sure you can guess why, ha!

Link up! Can't wait to hear about your first job experience!

Back to School, People Watching, and Memory Lane Topic!

Tomorrow is Meet the Teacher night at the school I will be doing my student teaching at! I'm getting kinda nervous! I'm going to get to the school around 8:00 in the morning to help my mentor out in her room and then just stay until it is time for Meet the Teacher.

I have been in College Station since Monday. This week I have been busy cleaning my apartment, putting away all of my new clothes, and taking stuff to the tailors to get hemmed! I know once school starts next week I will not have time to do any of this!

Today I'm going to put together my student teaching notebook. My notebook should contain the following components: Calender of Events, Lesson Plans, Reflective Journal, Cooperating Teacher/Supervisor Evaluations, Seminars/Meetings, General Information, Instructional and Management Techniques, and my Student Teaching Handbook.

Yesterday I went to the salon to get my nails and toes done! I needed a pedi/mani desperately BAD! One of my favorite things to do is to people watch. I literally could spend hours in the mall/store just watching people. There was this lady (prob in her mid 30's) at the salon yesterday who seemed like a total snob from just watching her. She pranced into the salon carrying her big expensive purse and gave me this half smile as she sat down in the chair across from me. While waiting on the nail tech she begins reading a magazine while smacking her bubble gum extra loud. Finally, when when nail tech comes she tells him exactly how to do her toes (he was probably thinking...oh crap why did I have to get her). Every few minutes she would look up and make sure he was doing it right.  Also, when someone walked by she would look them up and down with the snobbiest face!!! It was soo funny! Do you ever people watch?

I'm obsessed with cocktail rings right now!

Tomorrow is Memory Lane Friday!

Memory Lane Friday: My 21st Birthday - Come Link Up!

Welcome to...

Theme: 21st Birthday

Directions: Take a trip down memory lane this week by telling us about your 21st Birthday!!!! Post a picture(s) from your 21st Birthday and write a little about it! Another option: If you do not want to post about your 21st you can write about another memorable birthday!

I celebrated my 21st Birthday back in April of 2008! On the night of my actual 21st my friend Kailee took me to Baker Street Pub in The Woodlands! I remember feeling so cool, ha! Excuse the quality of these pictures...it was before I had a digital camera!

Me and Kailee

The next day my parents took me to 7 Leguas (my fav Mexican restaurant) to celebrate!

We have known the owners for years so my parents had them put this on their billboard! I was so embarrassed! ; )

Our waiter checkin' my I.D.

The waiters singing Happy Birthday to me!

 Rudolph!

That weekend I rented a hotel room in Houston for me and my friends to stay in! We thought it would be fun to go to a club in downtown. I will NEVER do that again! It was kinda scary....maybe it was just the area we where in? After that night I realized I'm more of a country dance hall kinda girl! ; )

Me and Kimberly at the hotel

Kailee and I did not plan to wear almost the same outfit!

The birthday cake Kimberly made me! Every year we always make each other a confetti cake!

A month or so after my birthday my family took me to Vegas for my 21st! : ) It was fun!!

Arriving in Vegas!

Link up! Can't wait to hear about how you celebrated your 21st!

Happy Friday the 13th!!

Memory Lane Friday - My Senior Prom 2005

Welcome to....

Today I'm posting pictures of my Senior Prom! I loved the style and color of my dress! I remember being so stressed out about my makeup. I wish I did it differently because I think I look really washed out!

I invited a guy from another school to go to prom with me! There were seven girls and seven guys in our prom group. We rented an Excursion Limo to take us to the Spindle Top in Downtown Houston for dinner and then to prom! We thought we were SO cool! Ha! Our prom theme was "Cherish The Moment".

Me and my best friend Kimberly

Prom Group

Toasting our water, ha!

After prom the whole senior class went to the Main Event. The Main Event is an arcade/laser tag/bowling place. Before we left that morning every Senior got $100! I thought that was pretty cool! That weekend our group went to the lake to go boating!

Starting next week I'm thinking about doing a theme for each week. For example, the theme for this week would of been prom. What do you think? Thanks Erica for the idea! Any ideas on themes?

Link up! Can't wait to see some of your old pictures!

Memory Lane Friday: Link Up!

Thank y'all so much for all the comments yesterday and encouraging words! : )

Who does not like looking at old pictures? I can sit in my room for hours going through and looking at pictures from the past. I've decided that every Friday I'm going to create a post titled "Memory Lane Friday". I'm going to post a picture from the past and write a little about it. I figured this might be a fun blog hop so I will create a MckLinky down at the bottom of this post.

Do y'all remember Meredith's season of The Bachelorette several years ago? Well Laney (pictured below) was one of the last four guys left on her season. He was sent home after his hometown date though! This picture was taken at my cousin Cait's brother's graduation. Laney is from the same small East Texas town as my cousin and his brother was also graduating that same day! You know I was THRILLED to do death to get a picture with him!

Don't we look SOOO young?!  I think I went to the tanning bed a little too much back then, ha!

Year - 2004. Me - Age 17 and Cait - Age 15

Do y'all remember him?

Well...the next year for my 18th birthday my mom had this cake made for me!

The top of the cake: "Christa, Happy 18th Birthday"

The bottom of the cake: "Future Bachelorette"

Should I go apply for the show?! Ha!

If you wish to link up just post an old picture and write a little about it!
