Central Park, F*R*I*E*N*D*S Fountain, and a BAD Waiter!

On our second day in the city we did a lot of walking....it was SO cold....my feet were soaked by the end of the day. I really thought my toes were frostbitten! Next time I know to buy water proof boots! : )

This picture above was taken at the Plaza Hotel where they filmed part of Home Alone. Behind the Christmas tree in the picture is a little restaurant were Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise were spotted eating a few days earlier! : )

Central Park

We decided after walking around all day we would take a carriage ride through Central Park. Well...since there was SO much snow the horse carriages were not running so we had to take a bike carriage ride! : ) It was so much fun...our tour guides were hilarious!

Do y'all remember this fountain from the movie Home Alone?

Also, do you remember the famous fountain from the TV show FRIENDS? Well...my favorite part of the whole carriage ride was stopping in front of the fountain in Central Park to take a picture!! : ) It was so cool!

After the tour through Central Park we decided to head back to the hotel to warm up some! That night we ate dinner at this little Italian restaurant that was close by where we were staying. Well....the waiter at this restaurant was even ruder than the waitress I told you about in my last post! I wasn't sure if people were on edge because of the snow storm or what. I guess when Hurricane IKE hit Houston a few years ago people here in TX were all pretty on edge too.

When the waiter came up to greet us he just started rambling about all the "specials" they had that night.....he was literally going ninety to nothing!!! He did not ask for our drink orders or anything...I'm assuming he thought we just wanted water. When he was done rambling he just said, "enjoy"....not do you have any questions or are you ready to order? A little bit later he comes back up to our table and asks if we are ready to order...we inform him that we need a few more minutes and he rudely says, "you're killin' me"....not take your time or I will be back in a few minutes. We were appalled!

Well...after he was so rude to us we thought we would start messing with him to try and lighten the mood a little bit. I ended up ordering a pizza. I ALWAYS dip my pizza in ranch dressing...I know being in NYC they are probably not going to serve ranch dressing at a nice Italian restaurant but I figured I would ask anyway just to mess with him! : ) When I asked him he looked at me like I was STUPID and acted like he didn't even know what RANCH DRESSING was! Ha! Who does not know what ranch dressing is?! When we were ready for our check my mom and aunt decided to mess with him a little bit more! My mom slammed down her hand and yelled "CHECK"!  We finally got a little smile out of him...I think he liked that we were messing with him. We asked him if he could split the check for us and then he says, "do you want it split this way or that way" (acting like he is going to actually rip the check in half). By this point we are cracking up....we just couldn't believe how rude he was! In Texas the manager would have fired him by now! When he delivered our bill to us he had actually split it by tearing it in half! To mess with him one last time my mom tells him she didn't like the way he had split it....she wanted it split the OTHER way, ha!!!!! What would y'all have done?!

AT OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANT.....NOT!!!

More later.....

I would love to see the Friends fountain! So fun! Haha, what a rude waiter! I don't think I would have known what to do if someone was that rude to me.

I cannot remember the name of the place but there is a restuarant across the street from Dylan's candy shop on 3rd Avenue and my husband and I had the WORST service ever there. We had a similar experience and our waitress told us she hated Southerners.

Glad you got to experience a true NewYorkerer! HA! You will definitely never forget it.

Thanks for sharing pics of all those fun sights we've seen on TV/movies. The snow is beautiful! I'm always surprised when I hear some of the things servers do and wonder how they still have their job because I couldn't imagine those things going on at my restaurant... I'm glad you guys made it difficult on him haha!

You are a true Southern girl. When we were in South Beach I had the same problem with waiters. Texas IS the friendly state you know, HA!!

One of the many reasons why I don't want to leave the South, friendly people :).
