9/11 Where Were You?

Nine years ago today I was fourteen years old and a freshman in high school. I remember the day starting out as normal and going to my first period keyboarding class.

Around 8:30 that morning I remember another teacher walking into our classroom and telling our keyboarding teacher to turn on the TV. We were all shocked and a little confused at what we saw. A little bit later the principle got on the intercom and explained to us what had happened. I remember everyone being scared and the teachers reassuring us that we were safe.

My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost loved ones on that day and in the war on terror.

Where were you September 11th, 2001?

I live in Istanbul and the first time I visited US was Fall 2002. So the towers were nothing close to me. But I do remember. How strange is that. I was at the hospital to get the results of a blood test, don't remember what for. The speakers were suppose to be off but they were letting us hear the news.

I got scared. Not only for people who were already dead and who were losing their lives still while we were listening to what was happening.. but for all of us. I felt we all were in one of those scary apocalyptic movies and someone was seriously making fun of us.

I hope non of us have to feel that way again. and may God bless those souls that were taken from their loved ones nine years ago.

I will never forget that day. I was also in high school and in my Home Ec. class. It was awful and so sad.

i was in 8th grade algebra class...i remember going in class, sitting in the front row and our teacher turned on the tv. i had NO clue what the twin towers were, i really dont think until that point that i had ever heard of them so i remember thinking 'i'm sure its not that big of a deal'

i was wrong.

after we watched for a little while the principles made all the teachers get back to work and turn off the tvs so i didn't hear much more about it til after school and when my parents got home i then realized the magnitude of the situation.

it's crazy how we can remember so much about that day, and exactly where we were when we first heard the news.

I was at a middle school Pep Rally and I was a 7th grader. I remember having no idea what the WTC towers were until that day. We ended up watching the footage for the rest of the day at school.

i was still living in los angeles at that time. i was on my way to work and had no idea. when i got to the school grounds there was an eerie feel, so quiet. many had taken the day off. we had parents of children on flights to the east coast but could not confirm which ones. nerve-wracking for sure.

I still remember it clearly, too. I was in my 8th grade language arts class. We turned on our TVs too. Crazy. I just remember not really understanding it but thinking it was pretty scary.

I was glued to the TV for the next week at least. So sad!

I was at work at the VA hospital. It was scary and my patients were especially upset.
