I haven't participated in Kelly's Show Us Your Life in a long time! I figured I would join in this week! Maybe I can get some good book ideas from all you bloggers!
I'm a future teacher so I obviously love children's books! I'm starting to build my classroom library now so I will be have a lot of books for when I start teaching next year! Here are a few of my favorite books for children!
My all time favorite book is The Rainbow Fish! It's a book about morals, being an individual, and sharing. I did a podcast on this book this semester for my Language Arts class.
Thank You Mr. Falker is a great book for children who are having trouble learning to read. I won't say too much in case you haven't read it. It's a great story!
One of my education teachers came to class dressed up as Miss Nelson last semester and read this book to us! It was pretty funny!
I LOVE all of the If You Give A Mouse A Cookie book series!
And of course I love all the books by Dr. Seuss! One of my favorites is the Foot Book - it's the first book I learned how to read!
And my all time favorite chapter book is Number The Stars - it's about the Holocaust of the Second World War.

Ha! It's probably a little old for them, but my preschoolers love Miss Nelson is Missing! I'm working on building my library too!
I loved the Miss Nelson books when I was a kid! And as a teacher, I LOVE Junie B. Jones!
The rainbow fish was my favorite too! Every time I went to the library to check it out...someone always had it. Finally one lucky day I got it. I was soo happy.
I recently just bought it for my daughter.
Junie B. Jones is beyond awesome. All my dancers in lower elem. grades *love* her. Boys, girls, whatever! The first grade field trip was to see a musical version of 3 of her stories put together. I got to go along and it was just as good as the books!
I'm also a huge fan of Number the Stars. It was the first book to make me cry!
Excellent choices!
small world :)
Mrs. Nelson is missing was my favorite book growing up! I loved teaching b/c you can still indulge and read the greats ;)
i loved the rainbow fish... i don't remember reading it growing up but i remember reading it over and over when i babysat in high school!
Aww! I love this post! I remember some of those books from when I was young!!
Love the Rainbow Fish!! Great Picks
That would be fun to see someone dress up as Miss Nelson...great book!
Good choices. There are so many children's books that I would recommend.
I L-O-V-E Cindy Boettcher's Anna Meagan. She was one of my professors at A&M. She wrote this story about an Aggie gal, education major, and how she meets a Corp member. It's a take off of Cinderella. I read it on the 1st day of school Every year. It's a great way to introduce myself to the kids. I show them my Aggie ring and I have a 12th Man towel and a stuffed Reveille to share.
I am from Oklahoma and will be graduating with an Elementary Education degree in December too...getting excited! I have been buying books like crazy but it's so hard to know what level to get them on since I have no idea what grade I want to teach. I like to go to Kohls and get the stuffed animals that they have that go with books. They change them once every few months and they are so cute and only $5.
Thanks for sharing your love of children's books! You and your future students will love tiger tales books (I hope!). There was a first grade teacher at my elementary school, who dressed up as the mean teacher from Miss Nelson is missing every year for a day as a "substitute" teacher for the class.
And I too loved Number the Stars growing up
