4th of July in Destin!

We spent the 4th of July in Destin this year. On the night of the 4th we went to the restaurant Pat Obrien's. You might have heard of the Pat Obrien's in New Orleans before....they just opened this one up in Destin. We sat on the patio which over looks the ocean. It was really cool because they put a firework show on right where we were.

One place that we like to go to in Destin is called The BoatHouse Oyster Bar. Its a really small place that is covered in 1 dollar bills. It's a pretty fun place!


And just so happens the table we sit down at has this written on the table! Ha!

Well we finally made it home from Florida tonight. It was a loooong 13 hour drive! We stopped in Louisiana at the Casino on our way home to see if we would have any luck. We each had $20 to spend and we were back in the car within 30 minutes. Ha! I had a great time in Florida laying out on the beach, reading magazines and books, and eating good seafood. I start my summer calculus class in the morning....I'm depressed! Here are some more pictures from our trip!!!

Our 2nd night in Destin we decided to try out this new restaurant called Baby J's that is on the Harbor. It looked pretty good but the service was horrible! It took over an hour to get our food out. My dad mentioned to the bar tender (who was also the manager) that it was taking awhile with our food and she got testy with us. Then another man went up to complain and the manager threaten to call the cops on him. She must of been in the weeds! ("In the weeds" is what we always called it when I worked as a waitress when we were busy). We ended up getting our food comped...we were assuming that the manager thought she was going to get fired if she didn't comp it! The food was pretty good....so if you go to Destin I would only eat there if it's not busy!

We went out to the beach about every day. I have a good tan now! The water was a little colder this year for some reason. One thing I like about Destin is that you don't really have to worry about Jelly Fish. Some years they can be bad like last year....but most of the time you don't see any.

I LOVE when thunderstorms roll in while were on the beach. Last Thursday we were sitting on the beach and the sky started looking pretty dark. All of a sudden the winds picked up to about 60-70 mph and it started pouring down rain. The sand was flying everywhere and people's beach chairs ended up in the ocean. Everyone started running up to the hotel lobby freaking out. My dad and I loved it. He got pretty excited....my mom keeps teasing him that this was the highlight of his trip! It only last about 45 minutes but it was fun!

Vacation Post #1

I haven't been blogging this week because we have been in Destin, Florida! Tomorrow is our last day in Florida and I am sad! I am really getting use to laying out on the beach all day being a beach bum! Today was pretty cloudy so I did not get to lay out too much. I am hoping tomorrow is nice since it's our last day!!! I was going to wait to post about our vacation till I got home but I thought I would go ahead and share a few things tonight.

We left the Sunday before last at 5 am in the morning! I didn't go to bed till like 2 am so I did a lot of sleeping in the car! Here we are in my mom's Honda Civic on the road...it was pretty crammed! We are kind of disorganized packers! Ha!


We arrived at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi Mississippi (our first stop) at around 1:00 pm. I am glad we got there early so we could go lay out by the pool before we started gambling!


I love the inside of the Beau Rivage. It is so pretty and bright. It almost seems like you are outside with the ceiling windows and flowers. All of the plants and flowers inside are real too.


That night we did most of our gambling at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino that is next door. I was sad because I did not have too much luck! I thought for sure I could win at least 200 dollars to go shopping in Florida! Ha! I would get up a little on the slots then I would lose it all. Here I am playing my favorite slot machine...Wheel of Fortune!


After gambling till like 1:00 in the morning my dad and I went across to the Waffle House to eat. Let me tell you it was quite an experience! It was pretty gross inside...I was hoping I would not get sick! Our waitress was slammed and every one's order was coming out wrong. She was yelling at the cooks and looked like she was about ready to quit! Then a couple comes in that just got married. I mean JUST! The bride was still in her wedding gown and the groom was in his tux. What a wedding night!

The next day we got to Florida around 5:00 pm! Here is a view of the beach from our balcony!

P.S.
Thank god Wes got kicked off the Bachelorette tonight. (Yes my mom and I still manage to watch it even on vacay). Ha! She should of kicked him off a LOOONG time ago! He is a complete jerk...I cant believe the comments tonight he made in the limo on his way home.

Change of Plans!

Plans have changed! This coming Wednesday is my last "in class" day for my A&M summer course....the rest is all online. But next Tuesday I have a notebook check-in with my teacher in her office.....so we were going to leave for Florida after that. Well today in class she said anyone who would rather do their notebook check this coming Wednesday after class could. I jumped on that one! Sooo tonight we changed our reservations and we are leaving this weekend instead.....which means that we get to stay there an extra two nights! :)


Bachelorette Talk:
-Jillian is CRAZY for kicking off Jake/Robby tonight and not Wes! Will she ever figure out that Wes is no good?
- Did ya'll see the preview for next weeks episode? It looks like Jake is going to come back and tell her something....maybe to tell her that she made a huge mistake!
-Caitlin and I were saying that we are going to take a little trip to Spring, Texas to visit Robby. And to Dallas to see Jake. Ha!
-I kind of like Reid. He reminds me of Chandler off of Friends.
- I am surprised Michael is still there. She kicked off Robby because he was too young and Michael is just as young.
- Cant wait to see the hometown dates!

Jon and Kate announced tonight on their show that they are getting a divorce. I feel bad for their kids. Hopefully it's for the best though.


Tomorrow I am going to go up the court house for that stupid speeding ticket I got last week. I hope I don't have to pay anything tomorrow. I am wanting to do defensive driving instead of paying the ticket. I saw a flyer for defensive driving at Denny's on Sunday....I made sure to pick me up one! The class also meets at Denny's....guess it wouldn't be too bad if they served us food! Ha! Then tomorrow afternoon I am going to test out of a class so I wont have to take it next fall. Hope that I pass it!


Also, please keep my friend Kristan in your thoughts and prayers....her grandmother passed away this past weekend.

Vacation!

It's official we are off to the beach in 3 1/2 weeks!!Destin, Florida

Tonight my dad made our reservations for summer vacation. We are headed to Destin! I love Destin...the beaches there have the prettiest sand and water. Destin is about a 12 hour drive from our house so we are going to stop in Biloxi Mississippi the first night to gamble at the Beau Rivage! Last year when we stayed there we did most of our gambling at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel that is right down the street. It was pretty cool inside!

We were even taking pictures in the hotel bath tub. Ha!

We are spending the 4th of July in Destin so that will be fun! When we go to Destin it's all about relaxing. Usually we just sit on the beach all day and enjoy the ocean. We also like to take a boat/sailing trip. Last year we went parasailing but I'm not sure if I am gonna be that brave this year! I cant wait to go to some good seafood restaurants like Harbor Docks, Dewey Destin's, and AJ's. I'm craving some raw oysters right about now! Also, my dad and I found a good Pizza place last year right by our hotel called Mellow Mushroom.
